Community Herbalist Certification 2-Week Training Intensive

Offered by: The Bellebuono School of Herbal Medicine
When: June 13-24 2016 Martha's Vineyard Island, Massachusetts

For the student who wants to serve as a family or community herbalist, or for the professional who wishes to include the art and science of botanical therapy as an adjunct to another field such as nursing, midwifery, acupuncture, chiropractic, social work, etc. During this enjoyable, in-depth intensive, students learn many facets of herbal medicine in a mostly-outdoor setting, becoming familiar with scores of edible and medicine plants and completing lessons in a dynamic small-group setting, as well as individually. Organized by body system, the 2-week intermediate program covers botany, anatomy/physiology, pharmacology, formulary, holistic healing, herbal identification, harvesting methods, philosophy of health and healing, business skills, jurisprudence, and hands-on crafting of delicious and effective herbal remedies.

You'll get training in formulary, understanding how and why to blend herbs in a healing and medicinal capacity, and focusing on both the scientific and intuitive reasons for combining herbs together, learning how certain herbs work together, how they fit effectively in a blend, how and why they affect the body's main systems, and how/why/when to use one herb or more than one herb for a given condition. The course also focuses on pharmacology of medicinal herbs (with a focus on Western herbalism and an introduction to Ayurvedic, Eastern and other herbs); body systems and physiology (including the digestive, cardiovascular, respiratory, urinary, mental, skin, reproductive/hormonal, endocrine, and other systems), as well as specific pharmacology and chemistry and how these interact with human anatomy.

With space kept to a small number of students, interaction is very much one-on-one, holistic, and client-based. Housing is available at our Herbal HQ! Taught by award-winning herbalist, author and speaker Holly Bellebuono, author of the Book of the Year 2015 Women Healers of the World, The Essential Herbal for Natural Health, and The Authentic Herbal Healer. Successful completion of the program confers a Certificate of Community Herbalist by The Bellebuono School of Herbal Medicine.
