UNITED PLANT SAVERS LAND CONSULTATION SERVICE
Have you just purchased land and are wondering how to restore the natural ecosystem? How to make the best use of the water, the sun, the natural landscape? Are you wondering what plants might have originally thrived there and what, if any, medicinal plants are still in the region? What is it you can do to promote their growth? Do you have a lawn you wish to convert to a more natural ecosystem? A garden yearning to be a meadow again? Looking to start farming your land but want to do so in the most ecological and economical manner? What will it take to restore the land you live on back to its original fertility? How to restore “wildness” to your landscape?
What is the UpS Land Consultant Service
The United Plant Savers Land Consultation Service (LCS) provides a network of professional land consultants ready to answer your questions. Each of the individuals who are part of the LCS is a member of UpS and is knowledgeable about native landscape techniques, medicinal plant and habitat restoration. Many are trained in Permaculture and have studied design and maintenance of agriculturally productive ecosystems, which support diversity, stability and resiliency. Knowledgeable in the many sciences that relate to the web of life, Land Consultants can help you in a practical and ecological approach to your landscape whether it be an urban setting, your backyard, a homestead, farm or botanical sanctuary.
If you are a Botanical Sanctuary Network Member
If you are a member of the UpS Botanical Sanctuary Network, you are eligible for a free telephone consultation with one of the Land Consultant specialists. Be sure to contact the one closest to your bioregion and let them know you are a member of the Botanical Sanctuary Network.
What is the Financial Arrangement?
Though each Land Consultant is a member of United Plant Savers and supports the mission of habitat restoration and medicinal plant conservation, UpS Land Consultants work as independent contractors. Contracts, money exchanges, etc. go directly through the parties involved and are not the responsibility of UpS. UpS serves primarily as a contact between members and the UpS Land Consultant Service. Land Consultants have generously agreed to donate 15% of their income derived from members to UpS.
How do I find out more about the Land Consultants?
A directory of Land Consultants and their services is available to our membership. Either write to the UpS office for our current listing or visit the UpS website (www.unitedplantsavers.org). Information on the Land Consultant Service is also printed periodically in the Journal of Medicinal Plant Conservation.
We are always updating our Land Consultant Service. Land Consultants are needed in every bioregion in the country. If you know of someone who would qualify, please have them contact the UpS office.
